How We Create Connections Through Hair Care

An age old secret is that loving parents create loving children. As a mother of three girls, I understand how mother - daughter relationships can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster ride heading nowhere fast. The truth is our relationship with our daughters can set the tempo not only for our future relationship, but also for the relationship she has with herself. I believe our daughters see themselves through the lens of our connection.  Her life and the person she evolves into is shaped through the bond we create.

With that, here at Hair Jikoo, we feel that hair care is a great time to start the tradition of mommy and me time. Read on to find out how.

How to Create Connections Via Hair Care

Given the changes in today's world, connecting with your daughter can be difficult. Heck, it is a whole new game with online gaming, YouTube, and social media. However, there is a tried and trusted way to sneak in "girl time”. Hair Care! Wash day is the perfect way to bond with your daughter. For one, it’s something of a ritual that they can look forward to. When properly handled, this can create fond memories and lasting connections.

Make It A Ritual: Establish a schedule for when you will wash her hair and make a plan to incorporate fun exciting activities during this time. It gives them something to look forward to, especially if you can find ways to make it a fun. Try making wash day more like a spa day. You can also try researching new styles together, this is one of our favorite things to do. Another tip is to use this time to discuss the importance of self-care and ask them how they feel about the different stages in the hair washing process. What do they like, or not like?

Be There: By this we mean try to stay in the moment. It’s not enough to simply do their hair. How present are you in that moment? Take this time as a connecting opportunity that helps you stay in touch with what’s going on in their world. To do that, you need to be in the moment with them. Nothing else but them matters during this time.

Takeaway

We are in a digital world where technology is quickly replacing a lot of things. Be diligent in maintaining and keeping your bond with your daughter strong. Take advantage of the time you spend on wash day to truly be there for her.
